Equity & Assessments: Coexistence Is Possible
The assessment field is convinced that standardized testing is fair and equitable. Without a major federal policy change, testing will remain the ultimate authority for measuring student learning. This session includes satirical videos exposing the blind spots around equity in testing and the performative efforts to address culture and bias, followed by a discussion on steps to take, including how to develop culturally relevant assessments. If testing prevails, can equity? Yes, let’s make it so.
