Cancer Storytelling & Enhancing Empathy in Artists
Aesthetics of Health, where undergraduate students make visual art with/for those impacted by cancer, results in measured increases in student empathy; high-quality student works based on reexamination of art, healing, sickness & the body; & cancer patients voicing their own stories. This interactive pedagogic approach shows promise to also: (1) enhance equity, increase resiliency & maybe even address burnout; & (2) accommodate varying art modalities, community members & settings.
