#Look4Helpers

Look for the Helpers: Fostering Computing Allyship

The issues impacting historically disenfranchised groups in the tech workforce often mirror their experiences as college students. Yet, minimal (if any) initiatives focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion at the university level, where computing departments may be even less diverse (and equally as biased). In this session, Dr. Nicki Washington discusses cultural competence in computing and how it creates department cultures where allyship and advocacy are encouraged, nurtured, and expected.
