Critical Making & Collaborative Learning
Project-based collaboration and critical making fosters the development of important 21st century skills. In my Eco Art course, students work as teams for seven weeks to design, develop, and install a range of creative campus interventions around an environmental issue. Students discover how art and creativity can be civically engaged, a kind of DIY citizenship, while developing their ability to brainstorm, use visualization techniques, prototype, collaborate, communicate, and self-reflect.
