Out-of-school experiences are vital in increasing children’s knowledge, skills, and attitude in science. But a look beyond the intended audience reveals so much more. Informal science experiences bring about broader impact by empowering the people and organizations involved. Our panel presents case studies that examine cultural changes documented in community ecosystems through three distinct science outreach campaigns, including rural, urban, and suburban locations throughout the USA and Chile.
