Rodrigo Tapia

For the past 10 years, Rodrigo Tapia has been bringing innovative science through formal and informal education initiatives throughout Chile. Rodrigo is the head of outreach and education of the Biomedical Neuroscience Institute, a research center based in the University of Chile. Since the creation of the Institute, he initiated a number of successful outreach programs to bring neuroscience to communities through video games, a web comic, and exhibits. Rodrigo was a content designer for the neuroscience exhibit in the Chile’s largest interactive science museum. In 2015, he spearheaded a professional development program from life science teachers throughout the country, where he leveraged international partnerships to create a cohort of over 300 teachers and impacting thousands of high school students. The success of these workshops has led to the creation of a professional organization for life-science teachers with Rodrigo directing the inaugural conference in October 2018.
