School boards are a crucial, yet at times overlooked, component of improving education systems, and capable boards can create more just and resilient schools. Highly capable school board members are addressing equity issues, advocating for evidence-based policy making, building strong school governance, and providing additional services to the highest need students through aligned budgets.
