Maeve Doonan
Maeve is a high school student transitioning into college. She is passionate about many social issues, including disability rights, and especially neurodiversity and Autistic liberation. When she was younger, as a student in the public schools, she found that she was penalized for struggling, and rewarded for hiding that struggle. Her parents had to fight for every inch of support that she got. In eighth grade, Maeve transferred to a private special-ed school, with a largely neurodivergent faculty. At the end of her Junior year, she transferred to a similar school with a therapeutic component. At both of these schools, rather than giving her extra help to make up for how much she struggled, Maeve found an environment in which she could succeed.
