Shartriya Collier
Shartriya Collier is currently a Professor of Teacher Education, the former Associate Dean as well as Interim Dean of the Nevada State University School of Education. She is also the Founder and former Director of the NSU Sankofa Black student recruitment and retention program. Dr. Collier has over 21 years of experience as an educator, teacher educator and parent/community advocate. Her research interests include family literacy, the recruitment and retention of teachers of color, emergent bilinguals and literacy development, Black student success, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Shartriya is the author and co-author of five books, including a children’s book, and a variety of academic journal articles.
