The Major Doesn’t Matter. What Does?

“What’s your major?” That question stresses out nearly every college student and it’s the question behind numerous specious rankings and lists of the “most lucrative” and “most risky” academic programs, which are driving the liberal arts out of college. In this session, leading higher-ed journalists and a former college administrator will explore why students should design their undergraduate programs around meaningful interests and personal wicked problems. The session will show how a rethought college process and experience can open students to possibilities they never imagined in the job market — and how any college could demonstrate its real-world relevance in adopting this approach.
