Building Language-Inclusive & Accessible CS Classrooms
In the US, Latine students are 1.5 times less likely to study CS than their white, Asian and Black peers. This session will explore strategies for closing these gaps based on what we’ve learned in translating curriculum using the Python programming language into Spanish. We’ll look at how a fully translated curriculum, tools that encourage translanguaging, and the importance of a toggling option provide needed support for students, and how further accessibility tools can increase participation for students in other underrepresented groups.
