The Pedagogical Power in a Playlist

This workshop presents a novel pedagogy that enhances economic literacy through deep listening of popular music that incorporates themes such as income (im)mobility, class identity, unemployment, wealth gaps, and the economic trauma of everyday experience. Linking economics with pop culture supports critical thinking and mindful engagement and humanizes otherwise alienating economic concepts, which yields benefits such as student resonance and classroom engagement.
