Community Care: Black Feminist Eco Approach
This workshop presents Care Sessions, a peer-led care model in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood, as a case example of politicized creative care work though the lens of Black feminist pedagogy and praxis. Workshop participants will explore how communities drive violence prevention and trauma-informed care. Unlike external intervention models, which often impose a white savior or missionary complex in BIPOC communities, Care Sessions documents and supports existing community care practices.
