The Future of First Generation

More than half of college students are the first in their families to go to college. Yet colleges often fail to support, retain, and graduate these students, who typically come from low-income and marginalized backgrounds. During the pandemic, many first-gen students have stopped out or never enrolled. This session will explore steps that colleges and policymakers can take right now to better support first-gen students and ensure that they're set up for success, academically and otherwise.
