This talk explores what film educators can do to level the playing field for female students embarking on careers in the screen industries in the wake of #MeToo and #TimesUp. It assesses strategies of empowerment for the next generation of female filmmakers and addresses the actions that are open to higher education institutions. It draws on the experiences of educators, practitioners and students and proposes a solutions focussed toolkit to breakdown the barriers faced by women.
