Expanding Educational Equity: Writing Boot Camps

Using writing boot camps, a Baltimore City public school was able to personalize learning supports for the Extended Essay to increase equity in the International Baccalaureate program. By working at their own pace and moving forward with tailored 1-1 help, students were able to grow as writers in a relatively short amount of time. The number of students passing the Extended Essay rose from 28 in 2014 to 102 in 2020. Overall scores also increased, resulting in more IB Diplomas earned with student
