Being involved in the legislative process while still teaching in the classroom is difficult. Following an education policy fellowship in Washington D.C., Shawn Sheehan set out to create a new and unique hybrid teacher leader role in Texas: half classroom teacher and half government relations liaison. Participants will learn why more policy-focused hybrid teacher leader roles are critical in 2022 and how to pitch the creation of this position in their school district.
