Mars STEM Education During a Pandemic

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S., NASA was landing a rover on Mars. The Education Office at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory had an opportunity to engage students in real-life science and engineering. But early 2021 presented the challenge of doing it all remotely. Learn how NASA's Mission to Mars Student Challenge brought together more than one million K-12 students around the world to design their own Red Planet mission in the lead up to the Perseverance Mars rover landing.
