Kara Belew

Kara Belew, co-founder and President of Tenet Leadership, is a certified school board trainer and specialist, lawyer, C.P.A., and current school board member. Kara Belew currently works at the Texas Public Policy Foundation as the senior education policy advisor. In this role, she leads Foundation efforts to formulate policies to use taxpayer funds more effectively and to improve student outcomes across Texas. Before TPPF, Kara worked as Deputy Commissioner of Texas Education Agency, Finance, and managed the State’s $60 billion per year school finance system. Her accomplishments included helping formulate and write the Agency’s strategic plan and vastly improving the transparency of the State’s school finance system. Prior to joining the Texas Education Agency, Belew served as Statewide Budget Director for Gov. Greg Abbott. In that capacity, she helped to pass and fund the Governor’s education legislative initiatives. She also served as Governor Perry's senior education advisor.
