Johanna Lacoe
Johanna Lacoe is a policy scholar with expertise in juvenile justice and education. Her work includes evaluations of policies and programs aimed to prevent neighborhood violence, improve school safety and discipline, and prepare individuals reentering society after incarceration for employment. Prior to joining the California Policy Lab, Dr. Lacoe was a Senior Researcher and Deputy Director of Justice Research and Analytics at Mathematica. She also worked at the Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California, New York University’s Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy, and the Vera Institute of Justice. Her work has been published in the Journal of Urban Economics and Education Evaluation and Policy Analysis, among other outlets. Dr. Lacoe is committed to serving as a thought partner to decision makers and improving public policy through research. She holds a Ph.D. in public administration from NYU.
