Akil Hamm

Chief Akil Hamm has served as Chief of School Police for Baltimore City Public Schools since May 2017. He has served Baltimore City Public Schools for more than 19 years in various roles before being named Chief of School Police. In his role, he serves the safety and security needs of more than 85,000 students, 12,000 employees, 140 sworn police officers, 190 facilities over a 10 mile radius which includes pre-k, elementary, middle and high schools as well as special education centers and alternative schools in the Baltimore community.
