Michael Duffin is a policy advisor in the Office of Countering Violent Extremism in the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Counterterrorism. Prior to joining the State Department as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2013, he taught high school and college in the Chicago area. Duffin earned a bachelor's degree from DePaul University and graduate degrees from Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern University, and the University of Southern California. He has visited 59 countries, including 25 in his official U.S. government capacity.
