Brittney Newcomer
At Understood, Brittney manages the vision and instructional design of professional learning opportunities for educators. She works closely with the editorial team and experts to create professional development sessions that encompass best practices in supporting students with learning and attention issues--most recently creating sessions for the Understood for Educator’s Teacher Fellowship and the ‘All Means All’ Cohort. Brittney’s background includes working for 13 years in schools in different roles including educator training and coaching, school psychology, and teaching. She worked for three charter school networks focused on closing the achievement gap in underserved communities: YES Prep in Houston, Texas, KIPP in Austin, Texas, and Summit Public Schools in the Bay Area. She was a 2005 Teach for America corps member in New York City. She has a Masters in Special Education from Pace University and a Specialist degree in School Psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake
