Asian American: Not Your Model Minority
Conversations about race in education exist along a Black-white binary. Between 2000 to 2015, the Asian American population grew by 72%, making Asians the fastest growing racial group in the US. However, only 2-3% of public school teachers and 1% of school leaders represent the identities of these students. This workshop aims to shed light on the experiences of Asian American students and educators, and how to support and sustain culturally responsive and anti-bias work in schools to be more inclusive.
