Teaching the Bardic Tradition as a Bard

In this 20 minute talk, I hope to explain how to make ancient texts come alive in new ways. I sing, play the harp, and compose music, in this case, doing so to the words of such epics as the Odyssey, the Iliad, and Beowulf. These works arise from the oral tradition, and a bard, or harp-playing musical storyteller, originally transmitted these tales through song. I play these songs for my students, using the tools of a bard to teach the bardic tradition. I would do so during this presentation.
