Spoken Word and Speaking Out: A Young Writer/Activist's Take
Aija Mayrock is a 23 year old bestselling author, activist, and performer. In her session, she will perform some of her most well known spoken word pieces that have sold out Madison Square Garden, been front and center at the United Nations summit, and been performed for over 4 million students nationwide. Her spoken word pieces, ranging from the depths of bullying and cyberbullying to gender inequality go deep, but leave audiences feeling motivated and empowered.
Aija has used spoken word as a tool to educate, organize, and inspire millions of young people and adults. In the second half of her session, she will break down the tools of using spoken word and music as education and awareness, as well as the power of utilizing social media in education, and the power of giving power to young voices.
The session will include an interactive Q&A with the audience.
