The visibility of LGBTQ educators is vital to the success of LGBTQ youth. Research shows that LGBTQ youth experience issues with homelessness, dropping out, and bullying, at higher rates than their cisgender heterosexual peers. Having access to adults who share similar experiences and understand these challenges in our schools can improve academic and social experiences for LGBTQ students. Additionally, the visibility of LGBTQ educators fosters a culture of acceptance and inclusion for all.
