Fidget Spinners, Mindfulness, & Flow
The Spring of 2017 brought two trends in education to the public attention: mindfulness in schools and fidget spinners. Supposedly both of these have the same goal of helping students achieve self-control and focus. However, what does the research show? The larger question is whether it is possible to use an external or artificial means to induce the state of Flow as defined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi? This talk will address the research and the relationship of flow to learning.
