MOOCs originally promised access to high-quality university level education to students across the world for free. But a lot has changed since the MOOC revolution kicked off in late 2011. Since then over 700 universities have created thousands of MOOCs. We will take a look at five major trends that have shaped the MOOC space in the last six years. I will also share why countries across the world are launching their MOOC platforms.
