Summary

In this hands-on session, participants will rely on human-centered design practices to design and crowdfund equitable and inclusive makerspaces. We will share case studies of successful spaces and review blueprints and photographs of a wide variety of spaces from creativity labs to mobile carts and converted closets. Since we will engage in both big picture activities, such as overall vision and goals for the space and more nuanced design activities, crowdfunding techniques, and concrete tips, this session is relevant for those who are just beginning the design process or are working to improve or redesign a space for making and tinkering.
