Making the Economic Case for Workforce Access for Immigrants
This session is part of 2025 Crossover Day. Attendance is open to all SXSW EDU registrants as well as all SXSW registrants. As always, SXSW strongly believes in the power of mixing creative communities.
Political rhetoric paints a polarizing picture around immigration, yet the data is clear about the contributions immigrants make to our workforce and economy. From skilled workers with H-1B visas to undocumented workers on American farms, they generate $1.6 trillion in economic activity and $579 billion in taxes. Our panel examines this impact and highlights efforts to increase economic mobility for those workers in lower-paying jobs so that their contributions to the economy are even greater.
