Unfortunately, there’s no trophy for surviving or praise for the accomplishments we win when traumatized, disabled, or otherwise disadvantaged. The experience of connecting is transformed when we notice each other more often, more genuinely, and more realistically. The practice of noticement has rehabilitated troubled students, encouraged teammates, and motivated communities and is what happens when we use our unique abilities to slow down and really pay attention to others in our orbit.
