Carol O'Donnell

Dr. Carol O’Donnell is the Senior Executive at the Smithsonian Institution and Director of the Smithsonian Science Education Center. She serves on national and global STEM boards, including FC-STEM (White House CoSTEM), the InterAcademy Partnership, and others. A former US Department of Education leader and K-12 teacher, she is an expert in STEM education, diversity, and curriculum development. Carol holds degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, MSU, and GWU. She has authored six STEM books, delivered a TEDx Talk, and won awards such as the AERA Research Excellence Award and NAPE Award. A GWU faculty member, her greatest joy is her family.
