Baionne Coleman, a pioneering force in education for over two decades, is dedicated to educational equity and anti-racism. As CEO and superintendent of Rainier Valley Leadership Academy (RVLA) and a Founding Partner of the Global Majority Consortium, Baionne leads with a vision to empower Global Majority leaders, educators, families, and scholars in redefining educational justice. Her work centers on breaking down systemic oppression through a multifaceted, ecosystem-based approach.
Baionne’s impact on decolonizing education and promoting social-emotional learning (SEL) for marginalized communities is evident throughout her career. She has shaped anti-racist SEL curricula through her consultancy roles with organizations like Committee for Children and Valor Compass. Her work with the University of Washington and as a graduate ambassador at Seattle University reflects her commitment to systemic change.
As co-founder of Impact Public Schools, Baionne introduced innovative social-emotional and educational models. Under her leadership, RVLA became Washington State's first anti-racist, Black-led charter school.
