Richard Boerner

Richard Boerner has served as the senior executive leader of three international schools in South Korea, Bangladesh and Brazil spanning 20 years. Now in his tenth year, he continues to serve as the Superintendent of Graded - The American School of São Paulo. Prior to moving overseas Richard served as a junior high principal and teacher in Washington State. Richard is known as an innovative leader in learning. Most recently, Richard received the 2023 AAIE Dr. Keith Miller International Innovation Leadership Award for leading Graded’s efforts in the systematic implementation of deeper learning. Richard launched the Graded Learning Lab: Advancing Education Beyond Boundaries. The Learning Lab provides innovative instruction in deeper learning - embedding the science of learning in everyday practice. Richard currently serves as Board past-president of the American International Schools in the Americas (AMISA) and Board secretary of Academy of International School Heads (AISH).
