Joelle Kimbrough
Born and raised in Kansas City, Joelle Kimbrough began her dance journey at the young age of three, studying various dance styles including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Hip Hop and Contemporary. Joelle received formal training in Dance from Kansas City Ballet School and Oklahoma City Ballet School under Racheal Nye. She also participated in various summer intensives, workshops and masterclasses at Ballet Chicago, Kansas City Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Throughout her career, Joelle has achieved numerous accolades and milestones, including: Kansas City Ballet’s The Nutcracker, Oklahoma City Ballet’s The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty, Oklahoma Festival Ballet, and Storling Dance Theatre’s The Underground, Brown Girl Do Ballet’s 2021 Top 5 To Watch, Brown Girls Do Ballet and PerfectFit Ambassador, and was featured in Pointe Magazine. Currently, Joelle is a Junior Ballet Performance and Biology Major on the Pre-Medicine track, and is a member of OU’s Ballet Company, “Oklahoma Festival Ballet.” Joelle is actively involved in campus activities and programs such as Vice President of the Kappa Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc, National Panhellenic Council Plots Chair, and School Of Dance Advisory Council Board Member. Joelle continues to inspire and influence the dance community through her passion, creativity, and dedication to the art form. Looking ahead, Joelle is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the artform and to continue to inspire those who look like her. Upon graduating from OU, Joelle plans to pursue a career in Ballet professionally, and attend medical school after her career concludes.
