Adam Belouad
Hand to Hunger was founded in 2022 by a group of high school students at Meridian High School in Falls Church, Virginia.
Executive Director Adam Belouad, a high school senior at Meridian, and his fellow club members were motivated by the simple act of packing 30 meals each week for a local homeless shelter. Born out of Adam’s personal experiences fasting for Ramadan—and encouraged by educators at his high school—Hand to Hunger aims to address food insecurity in the DMV area by training and empowering students to become the future changemakers for a world free from hunger.
Working directly with students at 22 schools, Hand to Hunger helps young volunteers plan, execute, and carry out meal-packing events where their entire student body packs between 5,000 and 20,000 meals each year.
