Shrusti Amula
A recent high school graduate from Clarksburg, Maryland, Shrusti Amula’s journey into service started at the age of seven, when she discovered how much food is wasted each year, and the harmful effects that food waste can have on our climate. By age 12, she'd planned and implemented a composting program that was then adopted by her state for use in schools. To date, Amula's Rise N Shine Foundation has diverted around 100 thousand pounds of food waste from landfills to become compost instead. The program now cultivates green habits in students, creates leadership opportunities, and helps them become climate changemakers of tomorrow.
