Salma Baksh

Salma Baksh is a recent graduate of Forest Hills High School in Queens, New York. In their junior year, Salma relaunched their high school’s newspaper after a ten year hiatus, and has served as the Editor-in-Chief for the past two years. They’ve covered school events, reviewed local shops, and co-written an award-winning feature on the school librarian. Motivated by the lack of a space to engage in thoughtful discussion about politics, Salma also founded a civic discourse and engagement club at their school called Youth Informed. This past spring, they worked with a team of teen journalists to produce P.S. Weekly, a student-led podcast on the NYC public school system. They will be attending Smith College in the fall, and plan to double-major in Government and Education.
