Chad Van Houten

Chad holds a BS in Secondary Education with a focus on Biology and Chemistry from Calvin College and an MA in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University. He most recently interned with the VanAndel Institute Partner in Science program where he had the opportunity to experience science in a professional setting, and understand how it applies to research in the classroom.
With 23 year of teaching at East Kentwood, Chad has taught a wide range of science classes, including Chemistry, Biology, AP Biology, Science Concepts, and more. Chad leads EK Steam Labs, where he creates an environment for student teachers to deliver lessons and be coached by current educators. Chad enjoys creating mentorship opportunities for his students, hoping they fall in love with teaching as he has.
