José González Camarena
A proud immigrant, José González Camarena (he/him) has dedicated his life’s work to increasing access to opportunity for all students. His experience navigating the K-12 system as an undocumented student in California's San Joaquin Valley has deeply informed his personal and professional trajectories. José’s career at the intersection of immigration & education has spanned many roles including: community organizer, middle school math teacher, teacher coach, head of Teach For America’s (TFA) Immigration & Education Alliance and currently as the Senior Managing Director, Educator Grants at TFA. After 28 years of living in the United States undocumented/DACAmented, José became a lawful permanent resident through marriage in 2021. He is currently based in Phoenix with his wife and daughter.
