Pilar Ramos
Pilar Ramos is the Principal of Arts & Letters 305 United, a PreK-8th grade public school in Brooklyn NY, the largest public school system in the world. As a NYC Public Schools graduate herself, Pilar went into education over 20 years ago because she wanted a re-do of her own middle school and the glaring inequities she experienced. She has a BA in Urban Studies from NYU, a Masters in Education from Sarah Lawrence College, and became a middle school teacher where her love of teaching, schools, and advocacy grew. After 10 years of teaching middle school, she became a literacy coach and eventually the director of a citywide literacy program for middle schools across NYC. Being away from schools only grew her passion for them and she returned to a school to become a Principal in 2019.
