Eric Mackey
Dr. Eric Mackey serves as the Alabama State Superintendent of Education. During his tenure, Mackey has focused on innovative initiatives outlined in his strategic plan “Alabama Achieves,” including championing the Alabama Literacy Act, Alabama Numeracy Act, and fueling enhancements in STEM education, career and technical education, and workforce development. Through this work, Alabama has made significant strides in improving student outcomes. Mackey currently serves on more than 30 boards and holds leadership roles in various organizations such as the Council of Chief State School Officers and Jobs for America’s Graduates, among others. He has a bachelor’s in education from Jacksonville State University, and a master’s and doctorate in education from the University of Alabama.
