Walt Hickey

Walt Hickey is a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, who focuses on data, society, and culture. He is a recognized expert on data literacy and analysis, specializing in leveraging data to interpret societal trends and understanding how individuals engage with the media. He is the author of the 2023 book You Are What You Watch, and publishes the daily newsletter Numlock News, which brings attention to statistics and news stories that receive less coverage in the mainstream media. He is currently the executive editor of the finance and markets news outlet Sherwood News, launched under Robinhood. Walt is also president of the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Journalists, and previously worked at Business Insider and FiveThirtyEight. He holds a BS in applied mathematics from William & Mary.
