Owen Henkel

Owen Henkel is an Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) researcher at the University of Oxford, where he focuses on applying advanced natural language processing (NLP) methods to aid the formative assessment of foundational literacy and numeracy skills. He also leads the AI and Data Science teams for Rori, an AI-powered chatbot that provides personalized math tutoring on low-cost mobile phones. He is also a former high school teacher and an established podcaster serving as co-host of the Ed-Technical podcast. Owen holds a dual MBA/MA from the University of Michigan, where he studied statistics, education technology, and impact investing, and he has a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford, focusing on AI in education.
