Heather Ashley Hayes

Dr. Heather Ashley Hayes is a researcher, author, & educator as well as nonprofit founder. She is an advanced assistant professor in the Department of Communication Studies in the College of Communication & Information Sciences at the University of Alabama. She serves as Director of The Teach Out, a nonprofit aimed at breaking down barriers to educational access and runs Hayes Consulting Group, a space that works to empower others around communication, learning, & inclusion. Dr. Hayes holds a PhD in communication and a MA graduate certificate in neuroscience. She is the author of two books in the field of communication, justice, & public discourse and is working on a third about how what we know about the brain helps us understand how we learn, making education more accessible for all.
