Michael Bettersworth

Michael Bettersworth is the Chief Marketing Officer at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) and Founder of SkillsEngine. For the last 25 years, Michael has worked at the intersection of workforce and education. He played a key role in designing the nation's first higher education funding model based entirely on student earning outcomes. The result is that TSTC is the only college in the country now paid on commission by the taxpayer rather than seat time. He holds a Master's degree in Communication Studies and a Bachelor's in Telecommunication from Baylor University. Michael has published more than 25 studies on emerging careers and technologies and their relevance to Texas business and industry. He holds a patent in machine learning for text-to-skill translation and is a frequent advisor on workforce and education policy.
