Philanthropy Can Reimagine Success for First-Gen Students

Can philanthropy disrupt traditional funding models in higher education? This session explores how philanthropy challenges conventional merit-based scholarships, including random selection, and partners with institutions to address mental health, cultural identity, financial literacy, and career readiness. Leaders from universities, philanthropy, and research share insights on breaking barriers and advancing a “whole student” approach, showcasing strategies that empower first-generation students to thrive on and off campus.
