Making Refugee Student Populations Seen: Data's Influence

The panel discusses findings of a study, the first to explore identification policies for refugee/asylee students in state data. It includes perspectives from researcher/school administrator and nonprofit/resettlement groups to discuss the need for reliable data on these populations, the existing data challenges, and purposes that data can serve across sectors. Our panel will aid the development of policy regarding identification of refugees/asylees in state data, discuss how data influences student outcomes and can impede or improve equity, and advocate with groups serving these students.
