Tim Urban

The University of Austin (UATX) is delighted to bring Tim Urban to SXSW EDU. With wry stick-figure illustrations and occasionally epic prose on everything from procrastination to artificial intelligence, Urban's blog, “Wait But Why”, has garnered millions of followers, thousands of patrons and famous fans like Elon Musk. Recently, he turned his attention to a new question: why was society such a mess? When did things get so tribal? This massive topic sent Tim tumbling through mountains of history, evolutionary psychology, political theory, neuroscience, and modern-day political movements, as he tried to figure out the complex answer to a simple question in his latest book: “What’s our problem? A self-help book for societies”. He’s excited to engage with educators to get their take, too!
